Margie Herskovitz
The Baltimore Chapter of NCGR is pleased to announce that a co-founding member and past president, Margie Herskovitz, has won the prestigious MARION D. MARCH REGULUS AWARD for Community Service. She was presented with the award - with gratitude - at the United Astrology Conference (UAC) held in mid-May 2008. This award represents how much she has given of herself for so many years to the entire astrological community including AFAN, ISAR, NCGR and ACVA/CVA
Margie Herskovitz’s astrological career and community service spans more than 55 years. She is a life member of NCGR, AFAN, ISAR, AFA, OPA and the Theosophical society with NCGR level IV-CA and ISAR-CAP certifications. She won the NCGR Sisphus Award for community service in 2002. Margie has served the community nationally and locally at all levels.
At the NCGR National Level she was a Board Member 1980-1999: alternately, Membership Secretary, Treasurer, Tape Librarian, Custodian of Archives, Nominating Committee Chair and Election Clerk in addition to Advisory Board 1999-present.
At the local level, Margie was the NCGR Baltimore Chapter co-founder and alternated as president 1980-2006, which included arranging speaking engagements or workshops for numerous astrologers to benefit the astrological community. She also served ISAR as a volunteer and on the AFAN Steering Committee from 1998-2006. Further, Margie has served as UAC Roommate Sharing Coordinator since 1989 and as a Track coordinator. She has been a speaker at national and international conferences and on cruise lines, a frequent guest on radio and TV and a columnist for The New Age Magazine Baltimore Resources for 10 years. In 1976, she co-owned one of the first Metaphysical book and Gift Stores in the US. She now lives in Las Vegas.
The Baltimore Chapter of NCGR honors Margie Herskovitz for her great work in helping to spread astrology to the larger community.
Our little Margie moved to gamblin' land
That's what we try to understand.
Does she like slots, the wheels, roulette?
Or Black Jack even better yet?
It's hot there even in the shade
Is this another escapade?
Is she a secret poker champ,
Who runs a hidden card shark camp?
Whatever she is doing there...
We hope she gets her rest.
We know Michelle takes care of her
And thus she has the best.
When she is well enough to flip
And ready for a little trip ----
We keep ajar our welcome door
'Cause she belongs in Baltimore!
